Course Description:

We will be working with these different media during our semester together:

• Acrylic paints

This class involves basic drawing, painting, and sculpting. We will be learning about:

• Line quality
• Composition/design
• Contour drawing
• Realism
• Abstract art
• Shading
• Tones
• Texture
• Silhouettes
• Color theory
• Portraits
• Collage
• Lettering
• Basic perspective
• Cartooning
• Famous artists: ( the cave painters, Giotto, Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, Rembrandt, Cezanne, Monet, Seurat, Van Gogh, Picasso, Modigliani, Kandinsky, O'Keeffe, Mondrain, and Warhol.)

Grading:

Each student will be expected to take notes in their art notebooks, which will be an accumulation of what we have been studying throughout the semester. This art notebook will be counted as a final. Almost all of the assignments should be completed during class time, which means that there will be limited homework.
