Boys Volleyball

The Stingrays began fielding boys volleyball in 1999, when we were known as the Waves of South Bay Lutheran. We were blessed with some good all-around athletes at that time including Daniel Cisneros, Wes Bareford, Chris Jenkins and Chris Crandall (pictured here). By 2001 that group was competing at the varsity level and well on their way to making school history as the first team to make the CIF playoffs in any sport. Those early successes carried through to other volleyball teams at Pacific Lutheran, demonstrating a philosophy we emphasize to all our sports programs – that true success comes by honoring God with integrity, humility and sportsmanship.

Six-man volleyball is a fast moving sport played on a small surface where decisions are made quickly and skills performed correctly in order to gain success. Each season begins in early winter with periodic workouts. By February the team is practicing in earnest to prepare for a full schedule of games and tournaments. The CIF playoffs begin in early May and can run for two weeks. For more information on taking part in Pacific Lutheran’s volleyball program contact the athletic director.
