How much does Pacific Lutheran Jr./ Sr. High School cost?

Annual tuition for grades 6th – 8th is $5,750. Annual tuition for grades 9th – 12th is $7,500. There is an annual enrollment fee of $500.00. Tuition is generally paid over 10 months (August-May) but semi-annual and annual payment plans are available for a 5% discount.

Unlike other area private schools, there are no additional mandatory uniform fees, book fees, or fundraising fees for which often add thousands of dollars to private schools’ costs. Pacific Lutheran High School is proud to be the least expensive WASC-accredited Christian Jr./Sr. High school in the South Bay Area of Los Angeles which is only possible due to the generous financial support from the wider school community.

What does a student need to do for admission to Pacific Lutheran Jr. / Sr. High School?

Applicants to Pacific Lutheran are required to complete an application (online or hard copy), submit their last year years of school transcripts, provide a recommendation letter to the school office and complete a principal interview prior to admission.

Does Pacific Lutheran Jr./Sr. High School test students before admission?

Pacific Lutheran does not test students prior to admission. The school assesses students following admission with the ALEKS Math Assessment, the Iowa Test of Educational Development (ITED) as needed, and faculty-constructed initial assessments as needed.

Do you accept transfer students?

Pacific Lutheran Jr./ Sr. High School accepts transfer students each year on a case by case basis. The school does not accept students involved with drug or violence-related issues at a previous school or with any other “situation” that would not be conducive to our Christian school community and atmosphere. Do you accept students year-round?

PacLu accepts students year-round on a case by case basis. It is best that students begin the school year or second semester with us but exceptions are made when necessary.

Do you accept international students?

Pacific Lutheran Jr./ Sr. High School accepts international students. Those interested in enrollment should contact the school office for more information

Does the School Provide Financial Assistance?

Limited financial aid may be available to families with special circumstances. Parents desiring financial aid should complete a FAIR Application by going to www.fairapp.com or downloading this PDF. The school code is 293 and the password is plhs293 (The typical high school financial aid award is a tuition reduction of $1,500 for those families experiencing severe financial need. Due to the more competitive price point for junior high school financial aid is generally not awarded for students in grades 6-8.

Do you have to be Lutheran to Attend?

No. Pacific Lutheran accepts students from a variety of Christian backgrounds. All Theology classes will of course be taught from a Lutheran-Christian perspective but students are welcomed from all theological backgrounds as long as they learn with an open mind the theological emphases in Lutheranism.
